CARRIERS OFFERING eSTAMPS:
Keep in mind that even though WinRater can handle eStamps, your carrier(s) must first provide their eStamp to you. This, in turn, should be imported into your WinRater.
If you do not see your carrier listed below we suggest that you call your carrier rep and ask them to work with Boston Software in creating a carrier specific stamp that you can use.

Frequently Asked Questions about eStamps- It's easy. Once it's installed you will simply click on the eStamp box when filling out a RMV1 or RMV3 form. It prompts you to choose an eStamp that you carrier(s) have provided to you. Once you're back on the RMV1 or RMV3 Form, type your name. This serves as an electronic signature. From here you can create a PDF on your computer or you can automatically email that PDF to your client.
- The RMV has approved a "typed" signature on the form. After selecting your eStamp, type your name in the yellow field in the middle of the eStamp before creating the PDF. There is no need to have an eSignature image created.
- The blue box can mean two things. Either your carrier is not currently offering eStamps (we highly encourage you to call them and request that they contact Boston Software to begin the process) or your carrier is participating in eStamps but you haven't imported your eStamp into WinRater (we suggest contacting your carrier rep for their instructions on how to do that - refer to the above list for the contact information).
- Your carrier is responsible for providing the stamp to you either through their marketing rep, email or website. If that hasn't happened, you'll need to contact your carrier directly.
- No, it's up to you. The eStamp is a free and handy feature for processing the RMV transactions. It allows you to send the stamped RMV-1 and RMV-3 to your client electronically. This saves them the trip to your office. And if a client is already at your office, you can use the rubber ink stamp provided by your carrier and can skip the eStamp process entirely.
- Agents have the WinRater Formviewer installed differently depending on how their network is configured. If one user can't see the eStamp and another can, the easiest thing to do is to sit at the PC that's having the problem and repeat the process that your Carrier gave to you to get the other PC's enabled for eStamps.
- Yes. Recently the Registry approved the use of the RMV3 eStamp. Now, you can use your carrier e-Stamps on either the RMV1 or the RMV3 form.
- No, those fields can be left blank according to the RMV. The eStamp suffices for that information.
- The RMV has specific requirements that must be followed regarding the form. Please inform your customer that their form will not be accepted at the RMV unless they do the following:
- Print form on a 8 1/2 x 11 white paper. It cannot be colored or cardstock.
- Must print form without scaling the size. In Adobe, select "print". Under page heading set "page scaling" to "none".
- Must print and submit all pages* to the RMV. (*Original, Registrant, and Insurance will be on top right corner of each of the pages.)
- The registered owner of the vehicle must sign the RMV-1 form on Line 50. If there is a 2nd owner, they will sign on Line 51.
- The form has to be legible and free of ink smears, faded print or low toner marks.
- This is by design. Carriers can add/edit/revoke stamps based on the Agency Contract. As a result, we do not save the forms with the eStamp. The PDF, however, will retain the eStamp because it is a different file format outside of our control.
- Security is a very important consideration with the RMV forms regardless of the eStamp. Boston Software does NOT encrypt the PDF that is created. You are responsible for ensuring that whatever eMail client you use provides sufficient security whether you are creating the PDF and attaching it yourself, or using the built in eMail function that sends through Microsoft Outlook.
